Resources to jump start your riding

There are all types of bikes. There are road  bikes that are designed for racing, long distance touring, club ride or (event style) flat handle barred road bikes. Also for the road are Bike path oriented bikes like the Townie series from Electra. In the road bike heading you could even include cyclecross bikes which guys ride road, trail or grass areas and dismount and run over barriers or uphill with barriers to run over. There are mountain bikes for the beginner to advanced racer available to all. Price and how many times they are going to ride in a week may determine which bike is right for you.

There are bikes for dirt track racing, built fast and light for speed. There are freestyle bikes designed for tricks and flatland freestyle moves. There are bikes designed for ramp or indoor parks, pools and concrete parks. Then there are the dirt jumping style built tough. These guys are doing insane things on dirt ramps, like in the X games.

Kids bikes are off the hook too! Bikes are sold on tire size and run from 8 1/4 inch to 24" tires. They come any where from 1 speed to 21 speed full suspension bikes. There are guys also riding single speed bikes with no suspension to guys racing full suspension so the gamet is open on that too. Hard tail with front suspension too.

Prices are any where from $300 to $11,000. Cruisers are anything from a California style beach cruiser to 21 speed comfort oriented bike. Most have bigger more comfortable seating positions.
